| Review |Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Face Cleanser & Renewing Night Cream |

For those of you who have been with me for a while, you’ll know that I’m a sucker for affordable skincare that is packed full of natural ingredients. I’m also slowly making more informed choices and trying to buy cruelty-free products wherever I can (as I feel there’s no excuse for testing on animals in 2018!) So with these things in mind, you can imagine how excited I was to discover the Naturally Radiant range from Superdrug. It ticks all of the above boxes and more!

I have been testing out both of these products on a daily basis to give you as much of an in-depth review as I possibly can. So what did I think of these two products? Keep reading to find out:

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Face Cleanser | £5.99

The cleanser is of a thick, creamy consistency (it feels somewhat like a moisturiser.) As with most cleansers, you apply it on damp skin and work it into the skin with your fingertips. I found that this cleanser didn’t really work into a lather but that doesn’t bother me as a lot of the time the ingredients that create said lather dry out the skin. While it didn’t lather it was incredibly easy to work across my face and I felt like I didn’t need much product at all to give my skin a good clean.

I always do a double-cleanse as I like to use the first cleanse to remove my makeup and the second cleanse to do all the good work on my skin. I found that this cleanser removed all of my makeup with ease, leaving it completely makeup free.

I love how soft and clean this makes my skin feel afterwards! As a dry skin girl I find that I almost have to run for the moisturiser after cleansing, but with this product, I don’t feel that at all. My skin feels soft & hydrated.

For the low price I paid, I am in awe of this cleanser. It really mimicks more expensive cleansers on the market *cough* Liz Earle * and I can see myself repurchasing once it’s finished. Although, because you need so little with every cleanse, I imagine it will be quite some time before I’ll need to repurchase!

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Renewing Night Cream | £5.99

I am really enjoying this night cream! It has a thick consistency that scared me a little at first as I suffer from easily clogged pores. But once on the skin, it sinks in so quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

I find that the true test of a night cream is how your skin looks and feels in the morning. Some creams feel amazing when first applied, but once you leave it overnight your skin no longer has the awesome feeling it did before you went to bed. With this cream, I find that when I wake up in the morning my skin still has that moisturised feeling. It feels soft and has the healthy, glowy look that I’m after.

This cream has far out-performed other much more expensive night creams that I have used & I would definitely recommend it.

The final verdict

All in all I am so impressed with these two products. For such an affordable range they have performed brilliantly and have ticked all the boxes that I wanted them to. I would definitely recommend that you try this range yourself – especially since they are almost always on buy 1 get 1 free. I really believe that you won’t be disappointed.

Now it’s off to Superdrug I go to pick up a couple more products from this fab range!

New Stuff | A Beauty Haul

Over the past year I did a really good job of using up most of what I had & repurchased only the products that I really loved. As beauty bloggers it becomes far too easy to just shop continuously without actually using up products. I love buying new things, but I’m not about that life. However, with the using-up of so many products comes the need to replenish my bathroom cabinet & makeup storage with essentials, and occasionally, the not so essential.

So without any unnecessary rambling, here are some of my recent beauty buys:

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Brightening Hot Cloth Cleanser – £4.99
I have been on the hunt for a new cleanser for so long and when I found out that this particular product is a dupe for the Liz Earle cleanser, I just had to try it. The Naturally Radiant Brightening Cleanser is from Superdrug’s own range which means that it’s cruelty free. YAY! It’s also packed full of natural plant extracts including:

  • Kiwi fruit extract for brightening, to even out skin tone and provide antioxidant protection against free radicals
  • Mulberry fruit extract for further brightening properties which can help to reduce discolouration and even out skin tone.
  • Cocoa butter for skin softening and conditioning

What’s not to love!

Superdrug Naturally Radiant Renewing Night Cream – £5.99
When shopping for a night cream I tend to look for anti-ageing ingredients as it’s important to start incorporating these into your skincare regime by the age of 25 (thrilling, I know.) I ended up picking this item up as Superdrug had a Buy One Get One Free offer on their Naturally Radiant line when I was buying the Hot Cloth Cleanser. Again it’s packed full of natural ingredients including:

  • Kiwi Fruit and Mulberry extracts to help revive skin’s radiance and even out skin tone.
  • Sugar Beet extract and fruit acids for rich and long-lasting moisturisation and to refine skin’s texture for smoother and more youthful skin.

This product claims to leave skin softer and smoother and more refreshed and energised after just one week of use. I’ll put it to the test & let you know my thoughts later!

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Liquid Glow 6% Cleansing Lotion – £19.95
If you’ve been with my blog for a while, you’ll know that I really enjoy Nip + Fab products. I like their wide range of products, how affordable they are and the great results that they give. So when I spotted this little beauty on offer (£9.75 instead of £19.95) I had to buy it.

The Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Liquid Glow contains a whopping 6% Glycolic acid concentrate (compared to the 5% in the infamous Pixi Glow Tonic!) so for the price, I think that’s brill. It claims to deeply cleanse and unclog pores and maintain skin hydration for smoother, brighter skin.
I can’t wait to see what this does!

Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder – £17.99
This is a repurchase for me after using up every last bit of my last one. I loved this powder. I initially bought it just to set my Vichy Dermablend foundation but I ended up using it to set all of my foundations. It is a translucent setting powder that sets your makeup well without leaving a powdery or overly matte finish and still allows that glow from within to shine through.

Rodial XXL Lipliner in Baby – £3.99 (RRP £19.99)
STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING! Rodial is in TK Maxx!
If you didn’t know, Rodial is the mother brand of Nip + Fab but sells at a much higher price point. I’ve been wanting to try some of their products for a while so was excited to find them in my trusty TK Maxx beauty section. And at such amazing prices too. I picked up this XXL Lipliner in baby which is a light, nude shade. It’s one of those ‘my lips but better’ shades which I love. Very creamy & looks natural. It also claims to contain a plumping complex. If I can find a lipliner that is a beautiful shade, feels creamy & plumps my lips too, you’ve got me sold!

Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 180 Sand Beige – £12.99
I used to wear this foundation years ago when I was starting off in makeup & I remember this being the foundation that I would wear when I wanted my makeup to last all day. After years of not using it I thought I would pick it up again to see if it is as great as I remember it to be. Oh nostalgia!

Armani Diamonds Eau De Toilette – £70
Yet again, another repurchase. I absolutely love this perfume & have done ever since my university days. It’s a soft, subtle, feminine scent and is everything that I love in a fragrance. Armani describe it as:

Gourmand-floral – The top notes are litchi and raspberry, the middle notes – freesia and lily of the valley, and the base are vetiver, cedar wood, patchouli and vanilla.

There are so many notes in this perfume from floral to fruity to sweet with a hint of musk. It is delicate yet lasts throughout the day and can be worn no matter what the season. I think this is just one of those perfumes that I will keep buying over & over again.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original – £2.99
Batiste is a holy grail for many gals out there & likewise, it is for me. It’s one of those products that I just couldn’t live without, especially as I only like to wash my hair twice per week. I usually pick up the tropical scent because I love the smell of coconut but I decided to pick up a different scent this time. The original scent is much more subtle and has that lovely clean smell. P.s. I heard a great tip for dry shampoo recently – spray it in your hair the night before & it absorbs a lot better overnight to leave your hair clean in the morning. Let me know if you try it!

Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam in Ultra Dark – £17.99
If you’ve been a reader of Beauty & The Blouse for a while, you’ll know how much I love this self-tan brand. Ever since it came to the UK it is the only tan that I have religiously repurchased. I had always used the Dark shade which gave me a beautiful brown glow but while I was living in South Africa, they released the Ultra Dark version. As you can imagine, I couldn’t wait to try it as I love my tan to be as dark as possible. The Ultra Dark is £3 more in price but my word is it worth it. This tan truly exceeds the Dark shade & I have well and truly fallen in love!

| November Empties |

Another month means another empties post & this one is jam-packed with products. I always find that when you use up products it’s either a feast or a famine – you either use up nothing or use up everything all at once. I even have makeup items in this one which very rarely happens. Looks like I’m going to have to go out & do some shopping to re-stock my bathroom cupboard!

Here’s what I used up in the month of November, what I thought of each product & whether or not I would repurchase it:

The Body Products

Nivea Rich Moisturising Body Moisturiser
It’s rare to hear of a woman getting into a product because her boyfriend introduced her to it but as rare as that may be, that’s the case with this product. My boyfriend has always used this body moisturiser but I had never tried it until I had ran out of my own moisturiser & instead had to use some of his. Since then this has also become my everyday body moisturiser. Johannesburg has a very dry climate which leaves every inch of my skin feeling dry & in need of some serious moisturisation. This moisturiser does an amazing job at giving my skin a deep moisturisation & keeping it hydrated for the entire day & not to mention it’s also very affordable. I have already repurchased this!

Mitchum Advanced Control Deodorant Invisible Solid in Powder Fresh
I know I know, who really wants to hear about deodorant so I’ll keep this short & sweet. This is the only deodorant I use because it keeps me fresh for the entire day & has a lovely scent. I use the solid version because I don’t have to wait for it to dry. This deodorant also lasts FOREVER. This has already been a repurchase for me.

The Skincare Products

Simple Soothing Facial Toner
I didn’t actually finish this product & ending throwing 1/3rd of the product because toner just doesn’t seem to agree with my skin. I had purposefully bought this alcohol free toner because I’d heard it was best for my skin type but I think it was the product that was causing breakouts for me. Personally, I don’t feel the need for toner in my skincare regime & I’m yet to find one that agrees with my skin. I won’t be repurchasing this.

Nu Skin Moisture Restore Day Protective Lotion for Normal to Dry Skin
I mentioned this product in my previous skincare haul post & I’ve got to say that I enjoyed it. I was surprised by how small the bottle was when it arrived but it lasted about 3 months with daily use. It’s such a lightweight moisturiser but moisturised my dry skin really well without getting greasy or oily through the day. I would repurchase this product.

Nu Skin Rejuvenating Cream
Again this product featured in my skincare haul. I enjoyed this product because it was so lightweight & worked well as a night time moisturiser. I used this product during the winter months & I feel that I could have used a slightly richer cream at this time of year as Jo’burg sucks every bit of moisture out of my skin. During the summer time I think this would have been rich enough but for winter I had to pack this on to keep my skin moisturised through the night.

The Makeup Products

LA Girl Pro Coverage Foundation (Shade Natural)
I raved about this product in my current beauty favourites so I’ll keep this short & sweet. Basically I love this foundation. It’s lightweight while offering high coverage which you all know that I love. It also has a dewy finish which again I love but it’s absolutely essential that you set this foundation otherwise it will be sliding all around your face. I’ve already purchased this foundation & it’s already on the go because it’s found itself into my favourite foundations category.

Vichy Dermablend Foundation (Shade 25 Nude)
Again this is another foundation that I’ve raved about & I am so glad that it’s finally come to South Africa – and just in time too because I’d just finished the last bottle from my UK stash. You know a product is really good when you cut it open to make sure you use it all up! This foundation offers some of the highest coverage I’ve ever experienced from a foundation while being incredibly lightweight & easy to blend. Again this is another foundation that you absolutely have to set but it’s a wonder product that I’ve already repurchased.

Freedom Duo Eyebrow Powder in Medium Brown
Here’s another product that unfortunately I didn’t get to finish because it completely broke on me. I was pretty disappointed because I hadn’t even made much of a dent in it! I absolutely love the Freedom Brow Pomade & initially bought this for my no-makeup makeup days when I wanted my brows to look as natural as possible. It was great for achieving a really natural look for the brows but I just think I’m over using powders for my brows so I didn’t reach for it very much. But for such an affordable product, it’s pigmented & easy to blend! I wouldn’t repurchase this just because I prefer cream eyebrow products.

April Empties

April 2017 Empties

This month I used up quite a few products which is really quite rare for me as I usually take ages to go through a product. From the products I’ve finished it’s pretty obvious that I was needing the moisture this month. So let’s get right into it!

Sanex 0% Body Wash for Dry Skin I bought this product because the skin on my upper back seems very sensitive to perfumes in body washes. After getting fed up of continually breaking out in that area I purchased this product as it is made with moisturisers of natural origin, it is mild & it has fewer chemical ingredients & very little perfume. Since using this body wash daily my skin completely cleared up & I haven’t had a single breakout on my back since. What is this magic?! Definitely a repurchase for me!

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk Let’s just start by saying this body lotion smells DIVINE. When I lather myself in this I literally smell good enough to eat. It took me quite a long time to use this product up which is a bonus when you live in Johannesburg where dry skin is a constant burden & moisturisers are a daily essential. I do find this lotion moisturising although not as much as some of the other moisturisers I own. I prefer the Soap & Glory butters rather than their lotions for the extra moisture factor. I’m not usually into products that smell as sweet as this but Soap & Glory seem to create sweet smelling products perfectly – they really have a knack for it. I won’t be repurchasing this as I don’t believe it is available in South Africa yet, but if Soap & Glory lands here I would recommend buying some of their products as they are fab! Although I would recommend their body butters over their lotions if you need extra moisture.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream I absolutely love the Vitamin E range from The Body Shop. They have a nice, subtle scent, they’re moisturising & not to mention any product with Vitamin E attracts me as I am all about preventing wrinkles rather than trying to fix them later. I find this particular product very moisturising  without being greasy & I also find that I don’t need as much product to cover both my face & neck as I do with some other creams.  When I wake up in the morning my skin still feels moisturised which is a big thumbs up for me! This a product I would repurchase.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Lotion Another little beauty from the Vitamin E range & a product I have repurchased before. When I first bought this product I was wary of the small 50ml tube but don’t be deceived – it lasts! I do very much enjoy this moisturiser as it is moisturising without being heavy & it also sinks into the skin very quickly which is great when you’re in a hurry & just want to put your makeup on fast. It does contain SPF which is an absolute must for day cream although I prefer a higher SPF than the 15 included in this product. This is a product I have previously repurchased & would again.

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser Hydrating Lip Cream This is a tiny lip cream at just 5g however does last longer than expected as you really don’t need very much. To be completely honest I was quite underwhelmed by this product. I love the medical minty smell & the cooling feel when I apply it to my lips but for an ‘intensive’ moisturiser I didn’t find it so intensive. It does moisturise my lips but just not to the level that I was expecting. It is a white cream which unfortunately, when too much is applied, turns your lips a shade of white-horribleness. I prefer to apply lip balm without being careful of the amount I use & without worrying about it turning my lips an unwanted colour. I wouldn’t repurchase this product.

All in all I think I used up some pretty good products this month but unfortunately no makeup products were finished up – I don’t know about you ladies but it takes me SO long to use up makeup!
